Staying away from Bad Deeds

Staying away from Bad Deeds

Staying away from Bad Deeds: The hadith of the day for today is from the narration of Sa’eed Al-Khudri: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever among you sees evil should change it with his hand. If he is unable to do so, then with his tongue. If he is unable to do so, then with his heart, and that is the weakest level of faith” (Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 49).

Staying away from Bad Deeds

It is really hard to prevent people from doing something bad especially when it is among family members or close friends. This situation always occurred whenever our close relatives did something wrong, but we were unable to prevent it because we were afraid that it’s going to affect the relationship. However, according to the hadith above, there are three ways of preventing it, first is by changing it with action, if you can’t do it, then help by giving advice, and the least you can do it to use your heart by praying for the best either for that person to change or for them to stop doing the evil things.

In this new era where technologies are dominating everything and with the invasion of social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, more and more things came up such as people posting pictures showing off their awrah and face to others, or when we see people talking bad at others on their Facebook profile, the least we can do is by giving them advice, but if they never listen, we should pray to Allah so that they will be able to get Hid ayah from Allah. Who knows if our prayers were answered by Allah, that person might change. In addition, when we pray to Allah for someone else, Allah will answer that prayer for ourselves as well. As example, when we pray for someone to become a better person, Allah will makes us become a better Muslim as well.

Hence, we need to prevent wrongdoings in any way even when we don’t have any power. Always praying for our brother and sisters in Islam and we will be able to get benefits from Him. Pray for them to change for Allah and advise them not to do anything that would upset Allah. Once we give advice, we are free from the responsibility on them especially when they didn’t listen. Remember, prevent by action, advice or heart.
